Florida Association for Food Protection 2008 State Science Fair Awards
FAFP 2008 Award Recepients
The 53rd annual State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida was held at the Civic Center in Lakeland from April 16 - 18th. Representatives from FAFP judged these students based on their project's application to the food
industry and selected 10 (ten) Awards totaling $1,500.00 including
the Junior and Senior sections were distributed to the winners.
Junior Section - The following are the students that received awards:
* Madeline Segal - Spinach: Ready-to-Eat of Not?
* Emily Smithwick - The Effects of Various Liquids on E coli
Contaminated Spinach
* Caroline Snowden - The Down and Dirty on Cleaning Produce
* Rohan Reddy - Protein Separation by : Isoelectric Precipitation
and Analysis by Mass Spectrometry
* Taylor Faist - Water Fountain: Hydration of Health Hazard
Senior Section - The following are the students that received awards:
* Bonnie Yip - Nature Kills Nature: Natural and Non-Toxic Ant
Pesticide
* Shane E. Pacheco - Are Drinking Fountains Found in Cape Coral
Really Safe for Drinking?
* Jeremy C. Hsiang - The New Food Fight: Reducing the Pathogenic
Load on Fresh Produce to Eliminate the Risk of Potentially Lethal Food-Borne Illness Caused by Bacterial Contamination.
* Shreyans K. Patel - Antimicrobial Effects of Various Spices on
the Growth of Enterobacter clocae and Bacillus Species
* Yajayra I. Marin - Slick Killer T:
