President’s Welcome

Dear FAFP Membership,


As we enter into 2017, upon us is an excellent opportunity for networking, collaboration, learning and advancing food safety in Florida. I consider it a privilege to serve as your 2017 Florida Association for Food Protection President. Together, we can all benefit from the framework that has been established over many years through the great efforts of our affiliate leadership and members both past and present. I offer a sincere “Thank you” to all members! If your membership is up for renewal, please consider spending another year with this great association, and here’s why:

Our Mission StatementTo provide Food Safety Professionals worldwide with a forum to exchange information on protecting the food supply.

While our mission is important, there is so much more to being a member than can be read in one statement. Throughout the year we will host training opportunities, educational development luncheons and very actively participate in other events including the upcoming IAFP Annual Meeting held in Tampa, FL from July 9-12, 2017. Whether you’re from regulatory, academia or industry, there are many chances to get involved and serve as a liaison for your organization.

This year our hope is to build upon what has been developed over many decades of hard work. Our board will be tasked with improving and advancing several components of the association to include communication, membership growth, educational outreach, event planning, technology integration and the list goes on.

As a result of your involvement in the association, you may find a mentor, build upon a professional relationship or maybe even develop a lifelong friendship. Staying involved is a great way to grow yourself and your career.

Our association website, , is constantly being improved and will provide you with up-to-date information on future events. Its availability allows you to be “in the know” and plan ahead for meetings, seek out information and learn about partnership opportunities with other organizations. Ultimately, our goal remains the same: To help members develop personally and professionally while advancing food safety through the FAFP and its mission.
